By combining the design expertise and experiences of the consultant and contractor, the design phase is completed much sooner. Typically, the design is prepared to a level of detail that firstly enables Ministry of Environment approvals and secondly, construction permits. The level of detail on the drawings and in the contract documents represents a commitment to complete between the consultant and the contractor.
The objective is to succeed as a team in a non-adversarial manner and to avoid conflict. The typical cautious approach and over-detailing of drawings and specifications to avoid extras is not necessary.
